What is Yoga ?

What is Yoga ?

The Word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ (concentrate one’s attention on). The ancient yogis said that the ultimate goal of yoga is “to be able to aware of each individual cell of the body simultaneously”. Yoga is also taken from the one of Hindus sacred book “Bhagavat Gita” where Lord Shri Krishna explains to Arjuna the meaning of Yoga as a deliverance from contact with pain and sorrow.

Yoga and health are connected with each other very closely. Yoga helps not only in physical health but also mental health providing positive thinking and spiritually to both your body and mind.

Researches have been conducted to look what health benefits does the yoga provide. The Yoga comprises of Asanas (Yoga Postures), Yoga Breathing (Pranayama) and meditation which makes your body flexible by taking out your mental stress and being yourself in a relaxed position.

What Involved With Yoga?

There are various styles of yoga, some of them are moving through the poses more quickly ( like an aerobic workout), and other styles relaxing deeply into each pose. And some of them have a more spiritual angle, while others are used purely as a form of exercise. Practicing of yoga involves stretching the body and forming different poses, while keeping breathing slow and controlled. The body becomes relaxed and energized at the same time.

What are the Drawbacks of Yoga?

* Yoga requires commitment of time and is more difficult for people with certain physical limitations.
* Some people feel self conscious doing some of the poses. Also, yoga classes can be expensive.
* More challenging to learn from a books or videos.
